In the summer of 07 I was introduced to rope sandals by a wise local Costa Rican who found my assortment of odd socks and collection of practical shoes and hiking boots highly amusing. Quite quickly the boots deteriorated into the realms of rank and disgusting. When my slip on rubber thongs broke he didn't say a word but when they subsequently floated down a clear stream he silently handed me a pair of rope sandals. Durable enough to trek long distances over all terrains with the comfort of any shoe whilst still offering me convenience and breathability as opposed to rubber thongs which though light and cool were also slippery and prone to breaking. Ropes Sandals ticked all the boxes...
